Speed Limit 3

I don't quite remember when JD's Lightning McQueen obsession started, but the obsession is real
We didn't even take JD to see Cars 3, but since he was turning 3 this year as well, it made for a pretty awesome party theme.

Justin and I went to Costco the week before JD's party and scoured the aisles for a box that would be the right shape to make each kid a car. We ended up using the Canes sugar boxes, and had to unload about 50 bags of sugar and repack them in shelf so we could take the empty boxes home with us. It was a lot of work, but was so, so worth it. These cars were a hit!

I also made a cardboard cornhole-meets-stoplight game,  and after the kids threw the ball in the hole they got to pick a light to punch through in my punch box. prizes included Cars tatoo's, toy cars, and jelly beans, of course.

The kids honestly loved running around the yard and racing on their own, but I also made a stoplight and had Justin officiate 'Red Light, Green Light!' and the kids loved playing that as well

For the cake, I made 2 bundt cakes and put them together in the shape of a 3. It was my first time making a bundt cake, and it was D-licious! I decided to create my own recipe and did a cream cheese  filling, and writing about it now is surfacing some very strong cravings

all in all, it really was a perfect party and all the work was worth it to see the joy and excitement on JD's face <3 I love this sweet boy of mine

YOU: are obsessed with all things cars and Lightning McQueen, obvi • sing Moana to yourself before falling asleep • are quite the little play chef and bring me all sorts of delicious treats throughout the day • have The Little Blue Truck memorized and want to read it with dad every night before bed • are in a pretty independent streak and want to get dressed/put on shoes/and even wipe all by yourself. oh and ride your bike to the park by yourself  • ask to have chicken nuggets and ice cream for lunch every day (keep dreaming son, this ain't no Chick-fil-A) • starting to play and share and be best buds with your lil Bro Beckham who loves and adores you • sometimes think you're the boss and can put mom in time out, or not listen, or scream, which is fun for everyone • love to wear your life jacket and go swimming all by yourself • still climb in to our bed in the middle of the night and give the best snuggles til morning

Beckham's Hoppy 1st Birthday

Beckham's 1st birthday landed on Easter this year, which gave me a great excuse to throw a fun-themed party! I always let myself get so carried away with this type of stuff, but I have so much fun planning and prepping and always feel like we make such wonderful memories, so it's more than worth it.

(Here's Beckham's 1yr update, taken from instagram) YOU: can't stop, won't stop - you are constantly go go go and don't have an off switch unless you are sleeping • speaking of sleep, still take 3 naps a day and sleep 11 hours at night • have 6 teeth • moved up to size 4 diapers • love to play fetch with yourself • are on cloud nine if you have a ball • consume food in quantities far larger than your size suggests • have pretty much thrashed/stained/worn through every article of clothing you own • throw 2-second tantrums that consist of clenched fists, rigid back, and pterodactyl outbursts • strangers are not friends • smile so easily • have eyelashes a mile long
