Remember when I did my 'halfway' post?
Well, I thought I would do another update now that I'm 2/3 of the way through my first pregnancy.
- i'm still hungry all the live long day. and night for that matter. it literally is a 'bottomless pit' feeling - really think about that - you put food in but there is no bottom for it to hit or continue to fill up your tummy...it just disappears as if you never ate it in the first place, leaving you just as hungry as you were before. (actually, there have been a two occasions when I have eaten so much that my stomach truly felt like it was going to split right open from being too full - and that is just as unpleasant of a feeling. you can't win)
- the rumors are true - people really do just walk right up and touch your belly. it happens. But, it happened to me more when we were in the DR - I was like royalty there :) hope you like being fondled!
- don't tell anyone names you like. Why? 1) they might steal them 2) they don't shy away from stating their opinion. No one will tell you they hate the name "princess consuela" if your baby is officially named "princess consuela" after they are born. but before it's official, people just spitfire all their opinions
- I feel the cutest in dresses. especially spandex ones that shape my belly
- my belly gets ROCK hard whenever the little babe stretches out. seriously it just feels like baby is pushing up against my tummy as hard as he/she possibly can. sometimes, it hurts
- i love my belly button! hahaha it is so darn funny - whenever I laugh and my stomach gets super tight, my belly button sticks out like an inch farther, which only makes me laugh more + more
- Bending over really is a process. I'm not to the point where I need to get a wide stance before I bend, I can manage a sideways approach - but man oh man if I forget that I'm pregnant and bend over quickly - OUCH! It's like running full-board into the great wall of china
- sneezing. I talked a little bit about this in my latest bumpdate - but sneezing hurts! feels like a punch to the pelvis
- babies have the CUTEST clothes! Boy or girl, I cannot wait to start shopping for little outfits. I get butterflies every time I pass the clothing racks - i just want to buy everything
- i've developed a crazy muscle right in between the dimples on my back - it's kinda weird! It's shaped like an upside-down triangle and actually bulges out kinda far...not sure if that's normal or not. but it's hardcore
- dancing whilst pregnant is a hoot. Seriously, there is no better accessory than a preggo belly on the dance floor
- heartburn - i'd say that's been the defining symptom of my second trimester. i get it occasionally during the day, nothing a couple of tums can't fix... it's at night when the real war begins. i wake up because my throat is on FIRE, and at that point no number of tums or glasses of water helps.
- the glucose drink really isn't that bad! I thought it tasted like orange Fanta, just with a lot more fiz :) I was kinda freaked beforehand because I had heard so many horror stories about it, but one of the stories was 'it tastes like wayyyyy to sugary koolaid', which i'm be okay with :)
- people get kind of mad (?) at me since I'm pretty small for how far along i am (don't be fooled by the pictures, in real life i look smaller)... I understand (sometimes) where they are coming from, if they put on a lot of weight during their pregnancy, etc., but it goes both ways. It makes me sad that I'm not showing more - I don't feel as 'pregnant' as the women just as far along as me, and that's not fair
- be grateful if you have an RH+ bloodtype. I'm negative, and had to get the worst shot of my entire life a few weeks ago. It felt like I had been stung by a 100lb bee, and it burned for hours afterwards. i needed my mama there to hold my hand
- birthing classes are pretty hilarious. i really should take it more seriously, and i do! but sometimes, it's just hard to hold back...
- occasionally I will wake up with a really bad leg cramp. similar to that feeling when you are child and wake up from a horrible nightmare being chased by a dragon down a dead-end alley. it's pretty scary
- it's true - my internal temperature is much hotter than usual. It's gonna be a fun summer!
- I've actually felt pretty neutral/easy the past few weeks/months. Maybe even the whole second trimester. Sometimes I forget that I'm pregnant! but then this little babe gives me a good kick and I remember again. I know it's a blessing that I haven't been miserable and I can still do everything I did before I was pregnant
- stretchmarks - those are hard. The morning I woke up and saw those very first purple marks, was hard. I can't fully describe the sinking feeling I felt both in my stomach and in my heart, or the thoughts I let my mind speak to me. I really was just in shock, disbelief, and denial. I was angry and sad. It gets better with time - but i'm not gonna lie, it's hard
- speaking of stretchmarks - my boobs are starting to kill again. and they are leaking yellowish creamy stuff. colostrum, if you want the technically correct term
- the second trimester is the best!!! it seriously felt like a breeze and FLEW by - crossing my fingers the third trimester isn't too hard!
lastly - this whole thing truly is a miracle.
