if my bajillion photos on instagram weren't enough for you, here is the official reel from our trip to the Dominican Republic: aka Babymoon

note: J and I planned to go on a trip after graduation since we got married. It just worked out nicely that we got pregnant, so we could call it our 'babymoon'

for starters, we stayed at an amazing hotel. All-inclusive. Upgraded to the honeymoon sweet. 

Need I say more?

Yes. Indeed I do need to say more. Not only were the delicious slushy drinks + food free, but equipment such as snorkel gear, kayaks, windsurf boards, sailboats, bikes, etc. etc. etc. were also free. We indulged in these every. single. day.

J was so cute - he loved to go out and snorkel. Sometimes I would look out just in time to see his legs kick up as he dove down to get a closer look at the fishy's. One day he even brought me back a "pokey ball" that he found and we watched it try to move around on the sand!

the only thing we did pay for was a taxi trip to Loma Isabel de Torres, a replica of the Christ the Redeemer statue in Brazil. This statue is located on the tippy top of a mountain, and we had to ride in a cable car to get to it (the only cable car in the Carribean!) 

Once we reached the top, there were all kinds of merchants who claimed to know the best place to photograph us with the statute. They posed us awesomely - see for yourself:

We loved spending the morning here. The statute was surrounded by beautiful botanical gardens, with gorgeous stone paths leading every which way

we had too much exploring in the gardens - it was truly so beautiful

While going out into the city was fun, most of our days were just spent relaxing on the beach

there was much picture-taking

wave-frolicking

and sun-bathing with the wonderful sea breeze to keep us cool

on our last morning, we woke up to watch the sunrise. It was GORGEOUS. Such a beautiful sight!

Babymoon = Success!

I'm so happy that J and I took a little vacay for ourselves. It was much needed, and we couldn't help but feel giddy the entire week we were in the DR. It was the perfect little getaway!
