Moab 2015

we spent a weekend in Moab frolicking with family - and it rocked! (pun intended)
it was so much fun to hike and play and just be together. i wish everyone lived closer so we could do things like this more often!

run stewarts run

almost every year, j's family makes the trek to moab to run the Canyonlands Half Marathon. last year i went as a spectator, and it was great fun. but apparently not as fun as running a 5 miler because this year i did that instead! and yes, 5 miles, not a 5k - let's just get that out there, because i need my credit :)
i originally signed up for the race thinking that i could push jd in the stroller with me. but it turns out, strollers aren't allowed on this course. that right there almost killed all my motivation, but luckily i stuck with it. at the start of the race i met some triplets that were doing the race as a sister reunion. they were awesome and we immediately became friends, and those girls were my support team the whole race! seriously they were my angels! i didn't train vigorously for this, and i only had two goals: don't walk, and finish under an hour.
and ladies and gentleman, I DID JUST THAT.
my sister met me 100yds before the finish line, so i could carry jd across. it was so much fun - their wasn't much of a crowd since most people show up later for the half-marathoners, but the people that were in the crowd cheered loud and clear for me since i was holding a baby. and later that day a couple people recognized me! celeb status, i tell ya what ;)

after i finished i took full advantage of the free chocolate milk, cookies, and maui chips. then we hung around and waited for j, dani, wayne + claradene to finish their race.
my in-laws are AMAZING. they have run over 25 marathons (including Boston)... and aren't they just the cutest?
we crammed into a condo for the rest of the weekend and explored the town, enjoyed some delicious food, and of course hiked the beautiful trails. those adventures will be coming to a blog near you soon!

we are family

bless my dear sweet sister Megan for snapping these photos after church one Sunday. JD had just turned 7 months old and some pictures were well over due. Why is it so dang hard to get some family photos every now and then?
