a perfect day
ohhh my goodness ANGEL ISLAND!
by far my favorite thing we have done thus far is spending an entire Saturday biking around Angel Island. We rented bikes in Tiburon and then hopped on the ferry over to the island. The Perimiter Rd. is about 5 miles and takes you all the way around the island perimeter (duh). The scenery is OUT OF THIS WORLD! The ocean! The golden gate bridge! Alcatraz! The city skyline! Oh my goodness I was just grinning ear to ear the entire time. I know I've said time and time again how I feel about biking, but this day was something else - the sea breeze blowing through my hair, not a car in sight, my husband by my side towing our napping baby behind us - can life get any better?! Ohhhh but it did - Angel Island has tons of different historic buildings, which are another love of mine. I know they look run down, dingy, and broken - but I see so much beauty in these buildings. Oh, I was in heaven this day! not to mention the history behind everything. I'll be honest, I didn't know much about Angle Island before we toured it, but it's an impressive little island! It was fascinating to learn about the Immigration Station, Camp Reynolds, etc. Oh! And did I mention that we unexpectedly were there during Civil War Days? Haha it was awesome - there were a lot of guys dressed up and we even got to see a battle reenactment, and let me tell ya those canons are LOUD
