halfway

Whelp, I'm officially halfway through my first pregnancy. Go me! Woot woot!
In honor of this event I thought I would write a little bit about how pregnancy has been for me...
Obviously, pregnancy is different for everyone - so I'm only writing about the ups and downs and in-betweens that have hit me from time to time.
  • i am hungry all of the time. Even when I'm eating, I'm starving! I haven't been full in 4 months guys...somebody hug me! and, for some reason you can't eat as much in one sitting when you're pregnant, so even though I am still oh so hungry, I physically cannot put another bite of food into my mouth. Torture I tell you!
  • I have slept on my side my entire life. Then I got pregnant, and all of a sudden I wanted to sleep on my tummy. Nope said the doctor, you can't do that. Then I couldn't fall asleep unless I was on my back. Nope again, said the doc. Well, whattheheck am I supposed to do?! I'll tell you: Toss and turn and use as many pillows as necessary, that's what
  • Even though I didn't get morning sickness or nausea, the first trimester still had negative affects on me. I didn't realize this until I was in the clear of the second trimester, and all of a sudden had a burst of energy. But this was no burst, it was simply the natural amount of energy I usually have, but had been sucked away in the first trimester. During the first 3 months my body was so low energy, all I wanted to do was sleep. In fact, there were many days when I did not leave the comfort of my sheets. Also - even though I didn't throw up, I still felt like I needed to - not really nausea, just weird tummy cramps and icky feelings - sometimes I would go all day just feeling crappy and wishing that I could throw up so that the feeling would go away
  • You just feel weird/off for the first 4-ish months...your tummy feels questionable, headaches come and go, dizziness follows you everywhere...and you have no control over any of it
  • Food - where do I even start with food?! Your absolute favorites are removed completely from the list of options (so sorry, Costa!), and you are left thinking thinking thinking and simply trying to come up with ONE food item that sounds good, just one
  • At least once every 2 hours, I get this crazy shock/buzzing feeling in my uterus area. It's like a combination of my pelvis feeling like it is opening up, slash I'm having a mini contraction? But I'm sure when I get the real contractions I will laugh at that thought...
  • My upper body is so itchy! I swear I am always scratching my back, belly, or trying to sneak a chest scratch { refraining from using the word 'boobs' too much this post, proud of me? }
  • Ultrasounds are the coolest things on the planet. no exaggeration. I wish we had our own personal ultrasound machine so that I could look at our little babe every day
  • The second best thing to having my own ultrasound machine is having a video of our babe from the last ultrasound. I swear J & I have watched it over 50 times and we've only had it 3 days. It is just fascinating!
  • You get fat. You get zits. The baby gets gas. Your knockers could literally knock someone dead they've grown so much
  • Also, back pain
  • Also - crazzzzzyyyy dreams
  • Sometimes my vision will just go blurry...and stay that way for like 45 minutes...
  • And sometimes, I just start crying. don't ask me why because I won't be able to give you a reason
no two pregnancies are the same, which makes things difficult because no one can relate to you 100%. So if anyone has experienced any of these symptoms - validate me!

I hope this list doesn't sound negative or like I'm ragging on being pregnant - I know that my writing can come off in a negative/sarcastic tone... Plus, I'm known to exaggerate jussstttt a little :) I just wanted to capture all of the crazy symptoms that have popped up over the past 4.5 months. Some of these things have been regular, others have been one-time occurrences

It's easy for me to say now that I enjoy being pregnant. But I've had times when I've thought pregnancy sucks, don't get me wrong! But recently I've begun to feel a very very strong love and connection to this human growing inside of me. I picture Justin holding him/her and I canst help but smile when I think of our future family. I cannot wait to meet this little babe and to try my very best to be a good mother.

Bumpdate: 19 Weeks

Behold, my latest pregnancy bumpdate:
ps: I don't get the whole fruit measuring/comparison...
How Far Along? 19.5 weeks
Weight Gain? 8 big ones!
Food Cravings: Fruit fruit fruit fruit
Morning Sickness? Nada
Maternity Clothes? Not yet! Just doing the rubber band trick with my pantalones
Sleep? Waking up around 3 or 4am to use the loo, and then I'm up and ready for the day. Boo.
Movement? Not that I can feel... But at our ultrasound yesterday this little babe was punching and kicking and twisting and turning like crazy! It was so fun to see!
Best moment? The ultrasound yesterday was pretty good... And Justin surprises me everyday by taking care of all the desires of my heart
Belly Button: Still in...but looking prettttty shallow
Gender? Still a surprise, although we are thinking it's a boy!!!
Looking forward to: Feeling the first movements, buying cute maternity clothes, graduation, and our baby moon!

Sure do love this little mango!

last weekend we went down to Moab because Justin enjoys running 13.1 miles on the weekends...
we had a supa supa good time - my sister Dani and FIL Papa Wayne drove from Colorado to run the race as well, and it was so much fun to spend time with them
meg and her boy Tanner also joined the festivities, and we had quite a grand time galavanting through the rocks, eating delicious food, and enjoying the sun of so. utah (minus the winds of satan)
