Well baby boy, you are officially one week old!
We have had quite a busy week with you - starting with your early birth on August 6th.
Dad and I were the only family members present for your birth, but Gramma B arrived a few hours later that day.
On the very first diaper we changed for you, you peed all over the hospital bassinet! Dad still hasn't learned to keep you covered, and this happens a lot of the times he changes you :)
You had lots of visitors in the hospital - including your fabulous Aunt Tami and cousins Soph, Ethan, Brynn, and Nora. Conner and Riley also paid a visit and brought some delicious Costa Vida for mom and dad :) Mckenzie and Denise drove down with Gramma B, and they popped their heads in for a quick visit. Every one just loved you, and couldn't help but ''ooh'' and ''ahh'' at how tiny you were.
We didn't name you right away... Mom and Dad took some time to think about what your name should be, and eventually decided to name you Justin Dean Stewart, Jr.
We left the hospital Thursday night (Aug 7). Your discharge weight was 5lbs 7.8oz. The 'going home' outfit we packed for you was wayyy to big for your tiny body, so Aunt Tami went out and bought you a cute little premie outfit. You looked perfect.
Gramma B stayed with us until Aug. 14th and she was such a big help. She cooked delicious meals for mommy + daddy, tackled a puzzle with daddy, and helped out a lot with your nursery. She made you a beautiful crib skirt, bumper, quilt, sock monkey, and sewed a colorful binding on the quilt hanging in your room. She also helped mommy and daddy finish the mobile we had started making for you. Your nursery turned out so cute and we just love how so many things inside of it remind us of Gramma B.
Gramma loved to hold and snuggle you. She was in awe at the number of blessings we received - especially for your good health. She also just loved how you always held your little hands up to your face.
Your umbilical cord fell off on Sunday, August 10 - you were only 4 days old! Mommy and Daddy were very surprised when we found it in one of your sleepers :)
On Monday, August 11, you had your very first doctors appointment. Since you were IUGR, the doctors wanted to check your weight and blood sugar levels two days after we left the hospital with you. You weighed 5lbs 10.5oz, up 3oz from your discharge weight! Your blood sugar levels were fine, and you showed no signs of jaundice. Mommy and Daddy were thrilled!
We gave you your first bath when you turned one week old on Wednesday, August 13th. You were not a fan...
You have been such a wonderful baby. You sleep for 4-4.5 hours and then wake up to eat. We are crossing our fingers that you keep having such a great schedule!
You don't fuss unless you are hungry or have a full diaper.
You are not a fan of having your diaper changed/getting dressed - probably because you hate being cold, just like your mama :)
Everyone says that you look just like your daddy. Mom couldn't be happier to have TWO Justin's in her life :)
Thanks for dancing your way through your first week of life! Mommy and Daddy have loved every minute :)
